Whether you are framing a wall, installing a floor, or adding a show-stopping reclaimed beam to your living room, we have the material and the expertise.

Quality Assurance

How We Prepare Every Board

Reclaimed does not mean rough. Every piece of lumber we sell goes through a rigorous preparation process so it arrives at your job site ready to use.

01

De-Nailed & Cleaned

Every piece of reclaimed lumber passes through a thorough de-nailing process. We use metal detectors to ensure no hidden fasteners remain — critical for protecting your saw blades and your safety.

02

Kiln Dried

Our kiln-drying process brings reclaimed wood to a stable 6-8% moisture content, eliminating insects, mold spores, and bacteria while preventing future warping and movement.

03

Graded & Sorted

We grade every board for structural integrity, appearance, and species. Structural-grade material is separated from character-grade, so you get exactly what your project demands.

04

Traceable Origin

We document the source of every batch we salvage. When you buy from Lumber New Orleans, you know the building, the neighborhood, and the story behind your wood.

Environmental Impact

Why Reclaimed Wood Is the Greenest Building Material

Every board foot of reclaimed lumber you use is a board foot of virgin forest that stays standing. The math is simple, but the impact is enormous. Old-growth trees are irreplaceable carbon sinks — once cut, it takes centuries for new growth to match their sequestration capacity.

Reclaimed lumber also avoids the energy-intensive process of felling, transporting, and milling new timber. Studies from the USDA Forest Products Laboratory show that reusing salvaged wood consumes up to 75% less energy than processing virgin lumber of comparable grade.

And then there is the landfill equation. Construction and demolition debris accounts for roughly 600 million tons of waste in the United States each year. Wood makes up a significant portion of that stream. By reclaiming it, we keep carbon locked in solid form rather than releasing it as methane in a landfill.
